trois † the church honors & evokes you universally
Define "home". I don't think the cabins are getting it quite right.

[She has been considering the CES from every angle. It irritates her that there doesn't seem to be an alternate way in; it irritates her that her access to even the lie of outside is being restricted. But mostly she wants at it in a needy sort of way. The gym isn't cutting it. She feels out of shape, out of sorts, out of whack.]
[So she prowls near the door, her expression shifting from cold to frozen depending who happens by. Known wardens get ice, known inmates get slush.]

[ Icy stares don't really bother him. Not here, not these days. Sometimes nothing here really seems that important, and Stephen has to struggle to remember why he's here, why he needs to come back to life.
The CES helps with that.
And he doesn't mind letting people in. Even inmates. What harm can they really get to?
He's dressed for a jog, long pants and a t-shirt with a couple patches near the hem worn through. ]

I understand there's space to move in there. So yes. Yes, I'd like to go in.
[If you, you know, happen to be opening the door anyway, or whatever.]

He steps forward, waving his compass at the door, and it clicks open. He pulls it all the way and steps in.
Only to meet a blast of hot desert air and an unhappily familiar landscape: sand, mottled with outcroppings of rock. He knows exactly where this is.
He turns promptly on his heel and shuts the door decisively, leaving them both outside again.
His eyes flick sideways to her. ]
You go in first.
[ He waves the compass again, and this time motions her at the handle. ]

[Damn. Whatever that was, it would've been interesting.]
[She meets his gaze evenly, giving him an I know you know I know you're hiding something sort of look, then pulls the door open and steps through without another look back.]
[It's nothing particularly remarkable, at least not to her. She's seen a lot of places; this one is beautiful, but no more beautiful than any other forest. It's the woods on the outskirts of Hemlock Grove--she knows this because she recognizes the curve of the creek winding through, and because the trees are of a certain mixture. Other than that, it just looks like a forest. Verdant. Smelling mildly of peat.]
[She has no particular feelings attached to this place. After all, this isn't where she died. It's where lots of other people died, that's all.]
[Her expression doesn't change. She just looks over her shoulder at Stephen, waiting for his reaction, if there is any.]

He finishes his scan of the area and looks back to her. ]
Thanks.
[ She's done him a favor. He's not ungrateful.
He starts rolling his shoulders, subtle stretches for running. ]
Do you know this place?

No problem. [I just touched a doorknob, she's tempted to say, or It doesn't matter anyway, nothing here does. But she keeps her mouth shut.]
[Glancing out at the creek again, she shrugs.] Not as well as I know some places. But I've been here.
You ever been to Pennsylvania?

He tilts his head parallel to the stream, eyebrows rising. Asking her a question - you want to come along? ]
Mostly, the environment it gives me is one I don't really recognize. I've been a lot of places.
